This is a hard post for me to write. Hard to know what words to write. Hard to express what most New Zealanders and of course the people of Canterbury are feeling and experiencing.
As a South Islander, we have many close friends and family living in Christchurch. And it is with enormous thankfulness to God that, having found out today, they are all safe and well. There were some hairy moments, and some of our family and friends have lost their homes.
This post is not to ask for compassion for myself – or written to even draw attention. I just want to thank God that my family and friends are safe. That their children are safe. That they are now in the care and shelter of people and family who are loving and caring for them.
However, some of those family and friends have themselves immediate family who are missing in the CTV building. I can’t even begin to imagine the grief and devastation they are feeling. All we can offer is our love, support and prayer. And there are moments when that just doesn’t feel enough. But I want you to know. We love you so very much. And our hearts are with you.
Love and prayer,
Rachael, Andrew and Talei xoxo
